Garden Arts
Garden arts
and accessories are the final touch in creating an outdoor paradise. Arts include sculptures and statues or anything else that does not fall into a typical accessory. These objects can be made of any material that is weather resistant and they can be of any size.
The time to consider your art is after you have completed your perfect
seating area
and
landscapes.
Statues and sculptures are usually focal points placed in the middle of a bed or even standing alone in the middle of the yard. Unless you are artistic and can do your own, these items can be quite expensive. They are not easy to find, sometimes you can find them at garden suppliers. Try doing a internet search for outdoor sculpture and art. I love wood and metal art for the yard since both stand up well to weather and each has its unique characteristics. I love wood totem poles both for their natural element and for the meaning each carved figure represents. They almost seem to be in complete
harmony
with nature. Metal art is very unique and comes in any style and shape we can think of. The way the metal reflects the sun and ages over time is very interesting. In the movie Twister, there were many metal art objects Meg made on her own. They were beautiful simply because they were so unique. Metal art does not have to be that extreme, it can be anything you want it to be. Statues work very well in formal gardens as they appear to watch over the grounds. Typically they are made of ceramic or stone or even a metal type like bronze. They have often been associated with wealth and stature. Sometimes you can find less expensive statues at estate sales or even in antique stores. Which ever type and style you decide to add, garden art is an essential part of creating that interesting and attractive outdoor paradise.
