Greenhouses
Greenhouses
are the ultimate backyard structure for gardeners. In recent years it has become possible to add one of these structures to any yard. There are a wide range of home kits available from attached small units to the full sized professional units.
The attached versions are great for adding to the side of the house, garage or a shed. They can come as small as 6 foot by 8 foot. They are wind rated and the panels are made of a durable polycarbonate. There are options available like roof vents, doors and ceiling shades.
The detached versions are basically the same but come much larger and offer more options. Some areas do not allow these backyard structures and those that due have very stringent guidelines. Anchoring on a cement pad is a must. The polycarbonate walls and ceilings are much more efficient than glass and much safer. The frames are usually powder coated aluminum which handles the elements very well.
This is a great way to get a jump start on the
gardening
season.
Vegetables,
flowers
and other plants can be started long before the growing season. You can even generate income by selling plants to the general population. It's also educational for children and can be fun for the whole family.
These structures generally run similiar in price to all other structures. They are well worth the investment since the attached versions can be used as a 3 season rooms and the detached versions can generate income. They can also be attractive if installed correctly and embellished with other landscape items.
If your area allows either an attached or detached greenhouse, definitly consider one. The fun and enjoyment they provide can not be priced.
