Outdoor task lights
are a must when installing an outdoor kitchen or bar area. It's all about extending the hours these work areas can be utilized. Task lighting refers to specific lighting for things like cooking or mixing drinks, lighting that is directed at the work surface.
If installing an outdoor bar, lighting can be installed in an overhead
arbor
or a lamp post can be installed. Even outdoor lamps can be used on the bar itself. There are many interior looking lamps intended for outdoor use now. Lighting can be placed within the shelves under the bar also.
Obviously we are referring to different types of
electric
lighting which can be economical as well. Check the amp and watt requirements for any electric lighting before purchase. Different bulb types also use different energy levels. Place the lighting on a switch from within the house rather than timers to save even more electricity.
If your installing a kitchen outside than incorporate lighting within the design before it's built. It's much easier to plan the route of wiring in advance than trying to do it later.
You can always add other sources of light like
torches
, lanterns, candles or gel burners. Just be sure they are placed safely with regards to structures, pets and children.
Once the task is complete, the electricity can be shut off and the other sources of light can be used.
Outdoor task lights are typically needed anytime a specific function is being performed outdoors after sundown so it may not be required for all yards. If it is required be sure to lay out a plan in advance to allow for electrical wiring. Doing this in advance will be well worth it.
