Patio Gliders
Patio gliders are a great addition to any patio or deck. The motion is quite different from that of a swing or rocker . With a glider your body stays level to the ground and you just glide back and forth. There are several sizes and styles of gliders available . Recently there has been a renewed interest in gliders which has improved the selection. I have both chair and loveseat gliders with metal frames and wood slats. Mine are not intended to have cushions because they are contoured to fit the body. When I was a kid we would travel to my grandparents house, in the mountains, every summer. My fondest memories are of sitting on an old couch styled glider every evening. That glider must have been 30 years old but is was comfortable and the motion was perfect. We would sit for hours enjoying the sunsets and sounds of nature. I suppose that is why I am partial to gliders, the motion triggers fond memories and seems to be in harmony with nature. Gliders are a nice addition to stationary furniture such as dining sets and benches. It's always good to offer different types of seating within your yard since not everyone likes motion. Also keep in mind those people with bad backs which may require cushioned furniture or hard surfaces to be comfortable. I often sit on my patio in one of my gliders and fall asleep. I turn on the fountain and the music , I start to glide and before I know it I am drifting off to a calm sleep. I may be out for only a few minutes but when I awake I feel like I've rested for hours. I completely lose track of time while I'm out there. Suffice it to say that patio gliders are an important addition to any backyard paradise. Guests will love the comfort and motion of any style glider.
