Patio Torches
Patio torches
are both functional and attractive while providing ambiance. Torches come in a wide variety of styles and typically use some form of gel for fuel. What's especially nice is the ability to place them anywhere. Most people purchase them to provide low lighting and to chase pests away from seating areas. Torches follow the old form of lanterns, using a wick to absorb some form of fuel. Depending on the fuel canister, they can burn for a couple or several hours without refilling the canister.
Torches are a great accent to any
focal point
anywhere in the yard. They can be placed along walkways to light the path or in
flower beds
to show the beauty at night. The versatility of torches is what makes them such a great asset to backyard
decorating.

The only issue I find with them is the wind since the flame is totally exposed. Where I live we typically have 15 to 20 mile per hour winds 24 hours a day. Even
grilling
is an issue here because the wind constantly blows the flame out.I have a couple of torches placed at a distance out from my patio to help lure people out into the yard by following the walkways I have created. By having the flame in the distance, people are automatically drawn to it knowing there must be a reason for it to be out there. Torches are usually rather tall to protect us from the flame but I like to have different heights so I shortened one of my torches to add some interest. I just had to be sure there was nothing in close proximity that could ignite. Patio torches are a smart choice since they are inexpensive, versatile, attractive, they provide lighting and help remove pests. They add another element in our outdoor living experience.
