Wind Chimes

Wind chimes are a great addition to any yard and come in a huge variety of styles, sizes and sounds. There's nothing more tranquil than the sound of chimes in the wind. You can also be creative with the huge selection of styles. Sometimes it's difficult to pick one since there are so many and it's always embarassing to test them in the store.

I have several chimes placed throughout my yard so that no matter where you go you can hear them. I chose several smaller chimes that have a softer sound so that they would not over power the sounds of water and music.

I placed a larger chime on the front porch which has a deeper and louder sound so that we could hear it in the house. In the yard I chose to use shepherd hooks to hang my chimes. On the shepherd hooks the chimes catch the wind well and are almost invisible lending people to ask, "where is that coming from?" Shepherd hooks are a great way to display many things like flowers, birdhouses and wind spinners.

The chimes I chose have cut glass which also collects and reflects the color of the glass throughout the yard several times a day. A chime is a very personal choice since everyone hears differently. Take your time and sample them no matter how embarassing it may seem. Try to add at least one chime to complete the outdoor living experience.
