Wind Spinners

Wind spinners are a fun addition to any yard. They add a whimsical feel to the yard and are fun for adults and kids. They come in a variety of styles, colors and sizes. They are relatively cheap but I have seen some go for as much as $60.00. You can hang them from a tree, eave or from a shepherds hook.

They are normally made out of metal or plastic and sometimes have multiple features. I prefer the copper spinners with a protective coating that retains the copper color. I have one that has a spinner on top and a special feature on the bottom. There is a ball on the bottom that is in a coned shaped copper cage. As the wind spins the above portion, the ball appears to be moving up the copper cage but it's nothing more than an illusion.

They are a nice alternative to chimes if the constant sound bothers you. Just place them in a location where they will get a breeze but not a full wind. Hanging them from inside an arbor or pergola is a great place too.

Spinners are just another accessory to add interest and finish the design of your yard. You don't have to pick all the listed accessories but try to pick a few items from the accessory category to add interest and appeal. I am surprised that all my guests notice every little detail I've placed throughout my yard. It's fun to watch the excitement in their faces every time they discover something new.

Of all the accessories offered for yards, I think wind spinners are the most fun, easy and entertaining.
